Fortson, Montiel Join Mercy Chaffee Crossing

Primary care physicians Dr. Chris Fortson and Dr. Patricio Montiel recently began seeing patients at Mercy Clinic Primary Care – Chaffee Crossing.

Dr. Fortson joined the clinic on Aug. 1. He previously practiced at Mercy Convenient Care in Fort Smith. Dr. Fortson also serves as assistant program director for Mercy Fort Smith’s family medicine residency. He attended Hendrix College and received his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine. Dr. Fortson completed his family medicine residency at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences-West and is certified with the American Board of Family Medicine.

In beginning his new role with Mercy Clinic Primary Care – Chaffee Crossing, Dr. Fortson said his commitment to health care begins with his patients.

“I always wanted to be a small-town family physician,” he said. “I hope to empower my patients to live their healthiest life.”

Dr. Montiel began seeing patients at Mercy Clinic Primary Care – Chaffee Crossing on Oct. 1. He previously served as a primary care physician at Mercy Clinic Primary Care Hope Campus and practiced at Mercy Convenient Care in Fort Smith.

Dr. Montiel also serves as faculty for Mercy Fort Smith’s family medicine residency. He attended George Mason University and received his Doctor of Medicine from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Montiel completed his family medicine residency at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences-West and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

"My intention in becoming a physician was to be able to give patients hope, that together we can find solutions that move them toward wellness," Dr. Montiel said.
