The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that more than 37 million Americans have diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association, they face medical expenses more than double those who don’t have the disease.
The good news is there’s free help for managing your condition, and the new year is a great time to start new healthy habits.
Mercy St. Francis Hospital is hosting education classes designed to help with diabetes management. In the hour-long sessions, registered dietitian Jaci Woods will list the best foods for blood sugar control, share tips to lower blood sugar and discuss meal planning ideas.
Those interested in attending can choose from one of the following sessions, all held in the Sister’s Dining Room at Mercy St. Francis Hospital, 100 W. US Highway 60.
