Mercy is expanding access to primary care for children with the addition of family nurse practitioner Jaime Sanders.
Sanders has 17 years of nursing experience, including emergency room and intensive care unit experience, where she cared for patients during some of the most delicate times in their lives.
“My time as a registered nurse was amazing and taught me so much about what it takes to care for people when they are vulnerable,” Sanders said. “I’m excited to take that knowledge and experience and use it to care for children as a primary care provider.”
Board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sanders will be working alongside Dr. Chelsea Gregory at Mercy Pediatrics – Doctors Park located at 25 Doctors Park, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Sanders first moved to Cape Girardeau in high school. She and her husband, Wade, also a nurse, have chosen to make Cape their home and are raising their 6-year-old son, George, there.
“I love this area because it is a little bit bigger than a small town, but not so big that you can’t know the people in the town. It has a very nice family feel about it. There are a lot of opportunities to be involved in the community, and I really like that,” Sanders said.
Sanders started her health care career at SoutheastHEALTH after earning her Associate of Nursing from SoutheastHEALTH College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2007. She then earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of Missouri in 2008 and recently earned her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Central Missouri.
