With the addition of a new primary care physician, Mercy is now able to care for more patients than ever in Stoddard County and surrounding areas.
Edward Reese, MD, began seeing patients at Mercy Primary Care – Stoddard, 1200 N. One Mile Road, Dexter, Missouri, this month.
“I’m excited to be part of the successful and compassionate vision of Mercy,” Dr. Reese said. “I'm committed to providing full-scope family medicine services to the people of southeast Missouri.”
Dr. Reese’s first experience with Mercy came at age 19 when he dealt with a life-threatening emergency during his first year of school at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. The professional and compassionate care he received at Mercy Hospital Springfield allowed him to make a full recovery and go on to serve a two-year mission in Mexico with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and join the United States Air Force.
“I was treated with professional and compassionate care, leaving an excellent impression of Mercy as a patient,” Dr. Reese said. “I’m very grateful for the people, nurses and doctors who helped me at Mercy Springfield.”
Dr. Reese has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Fresno State University and a medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He completed a family medicine residency at The University of Nebraska Family Medicine program in partnership with the United States Air Force. Dr. Reese worked in Utah supervising inpatient admissions in general medical and intensive care units before making the move to Missouri, where he has provided family medicine care since 2021.
Together with his wife of 19 years and their three teenage children, they have several pets including dogs, lizards, tortoises, ducks and frogs. He enjoys woodworking, fishing, hunting, boating, video games and reading books.
