The Southwest Missouri Regional Arthritis Center's (SWRAC), located at Mercy Arthritis Center - Smith Glynn Callaway, can assist patients living with:

  • arthritis or a related condition such as fibromyalgia or osteoporosis
  • pre-diabetes or diabetes
  • heart diseases such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol
  • lung diseases such as asthma or COPD
  • depression
  • any other ongoing health condition

Learn new ways to live your life and stay active in spite of a chronic health issue. Find out about new exercises, ways to reduce fatigue and pain, how to manage medications, and even how to decrease your doctor visits.

Arthritic Center Services

The services available at the Southwest Missouri Regional Arthritis Center include the following:

  • Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (AFEP) A program designed specifically for people with arthritis, taught by certified instructors throughout the Southwest Missouri service area.

  • Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (Feel Better Now) A six-week class led by certified instructors full of tools to manage a chronic disease, such as arthritis, diabetes, and heart disease, that includes topics such as Nutrition, Communication with Healthcare Providers and Action Plans.

  • Diabetes Self-Management Program (DBSM) A six-week class led by certified instructors full of tools to manage diabetes including Ways to Balance and Control Blood Sugar, Reading Food Labels, Nutrition, Exercise, and Communication with Healthcare Providers and Action Plans.
  • Arthritis Self-Help Tool-Kit A toolkit full of resources to manage arthritis, such as an exercise CD and the Arthritis Help Book.

  • Walk With Ease Program (WWE) Held in both group and independent formats. The group is a six-week class led by certified instructors and independent is completed by an individual. Both formats offer materials and instruction to help reduce pain associated with arthritis, to manage one's health, and to develop a personalized walking plan that meets individual needs.
