Mercy Hospital Washington Behavioral Health is an intensive day treatment program for patients suffering from mental health and chemical dependency disorders. Our intermediate-level care program is designed to alleviate symptoms of mental illness, promote recovery and restore each individual's ability to function. The program can serve as an alternative to inpatient care for some patients, or as a stepdown for individuals coming from an inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.

Patients receive intensive therapy each week during the day, Monday-Friday. We offer three types of intensive outpatient programs:

  • Mental Health – for adult patients with a primary psychiatric disorder, such as depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, etc.
  • Dual Diagnosis/Addiction Disorder – For adult patients with addiction disorders or mental health and substance abuse disorders happening at the same time.
  • Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health – For adolescents who are experiencing family, school and social difficulties due to moderate to severe:
    • Behavior issues (school difficulties, poor impulse control, self-harm, oppositional/defiant behavior)
    • Psychiatric disorders (psychotic problems, major mood disorders, anxiety disorders)
    • Substance abuse or more than one diagnosis such as chemical dependency accompanied by depression

In all of our programs, we treat the whole person to meet their psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual needs and we provide:

  • A comprehensive assessment
  • Individual, group and family therapy
  • Psychiatric evaluation and medication management
  • Family support services, including referrals to helpful resources and financial assistance
