Designed by breast-health professionals and women just like you, the Mercy Breast Center on the campus of Mercy Hospital St. Louis is devoted exclusively to breast care, diagnosis and treatment. Our breast health center is available to all women who need routine screenings or further diagnostic procedures and treatments.
The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms beginning at the age of 45. It's also important to start at around age 19 with self-breast exams on a monthly basis and yearly clinical breast exams by your doctor.
Our breast radiologists specialize in mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and minimally invasive biopsy techniques. Our oncology nurse navigators help guide you through your entire treatment process.
We ensure the most thorough assessment, plus the convenience and peace-of-mind of coordinated care for diagnosis, treatment and counseling. On-site capabilities and services include:
Our Breast Center is a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.
By awarding this distinction, the ACR recognizes Mercy’s Breast Center as having earned accreditation in all of the College's voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program Center of Excellence.
You can visit us at one of our scheduled locations, or arrange to have us visit your business, community organization or church group and provide fast and professional screenings on-site. The actual screening takes just 15 minutes and is performed by registered female technologists from Mercy Breast Center.
Mercy Breast Center offers 3D Tomosynthesis Mammography for women who are at high risk for breast cancer or who have dense breast tissue. The 3D Tomosynthesis Mammogram can detect breast cancer at early stages because of all the images available to the radiologist. It also helps reduce the number of false positives for breast cancer, so women don't have to return for additional screening mammograms.
If you have a history of breast cancer or someone in your family who has had breast cancer, be sure to ask for the 3D mammogram when you schedule your annnual mammogram. It is available at Mercy Breast Center inTower A on the Mercy Hospital campus and at the Mercy Breast Center at Clayton-Clarkson.
