Located on the Lower Level of the Cancer Center, our experienced radiation oncology team works closely with your medical oncologist and referring physician to provide the most effective treatment for your condition.

We use the latest technology to ensure accuracy, reduce side-effects and shorten treatment time. For example:

CyberKnife Radiosurgery: A pain-free, non-invasive procedure that requires no anesthesia and allows you to immediately return to your life's activities the following day with very limited recovery time.

Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy: An image guided system that helps us provide the greatest precision and accuracy

Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy: A state-of-the-art radiation delivery system that treats tumors in sensitive, hard-to-reach areas with new levels of accuracy.

Image Guided Radiation Therapy: A system that uses imaging technology to precisely target radiation at the cancer.

Brachytherapy: A radiation therapy procedure that places radioactive sources directly in or near tumors.

HDR Brachytherapy for Skin Cancer

Skin HDR, also known as Skin HDR Brachytherapy, is a radiotherapy treatment technique. It’s an effective alternative for patients whose skin cancer can’t be removed surgically due to the location or position of the cancer. Patients with basal cell or squamous cell skin cancers qualify for this procedure.

Patients receive either eight treatments (two times a week for four weeks) or 16 (four times a week for six weeks), depending on the need.

Benefits include:

  • Minimal scarring
  • Minimal radiation side effects
  • Rapid and complete functional recovery due to the reduction in normal tissue injury
  • Shorter overall treatment times
  • High success rate (cure rate of 95-98% (non-melanoma skin cancer)
