What Is Mercy’s Swing Bed Program?
Sometimes patients need additional care and recovery time before leaving the hospital and going home. Mercy's swing bed program, also referred to as skilled care services, exists to meet the needs of anyone recovering from surgery or illness who requires care that would be difficult or impossible to provide at home.
Services Provided
Mercy’s swing bed program provides a variety of medical services, including various therapies, IV treatments and wound care, to help people on their road to recovery. Treatments include:
- Heart monitoring
- IV medications/injections
- Feeding tube adjustments
- Respiratory treatments requiring adjustments
- Physical, occupational and speech therapies
- Patient and family education for new conditions, such as diabetes or colostomy care
- Nutritional counseling
- Complex wound care
- Acute and chronic disease management
