Volunteer at Mercy Hospital Fort Smith

At Mercy, our volunteers put compassion into action. Our Mercy volunteers’ work is indispensable to Mercy Hospital Fort Smith as it allows us to utilize precious resources most efficiently. Likewise, it is invaluable to patients and their families who sometimes need a bit of direction, a helping hand, or a reassuring smile. Mercy VolunTeen Program

Mercy is honored to offer teens an opportunity to experience six weeks of summer service in our hospital and clinics in Fort Smith, AR

  • Applicants must be 15 – 18 years old to apply 
  • The deadline to apply is April 26, 2024 (Application)
  • After applications are reviewed, an email will be sent out to applicants by May 16 regarding acceptance to the program 

VolunTeen Requirements

For your personal planning, the requirements for volunteens are as follows:

  • Volunteens will be required to attend one orientation session, which will be offered on June 3rd or June 11th. All volunteens must attend one of these two offered sessions in order to participate in the program. 
  • In order to apply, each student must commit to volunteering eight hours per week from June 3rd to July 12th. Students will be assigned a time slot each time they volunteer either 9:00 am– 1:00 pm or 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Please do not apply if you will be absent or unable to serve for more than one week during that period. 
  • Volunteens will be required to provide current proof of TB screening that can be obtained through their personal care provider. If they choose, they can attend our free TB skin test clinic and they will be required to return in 48-72 hours to have the test read. 
  • We will accept no more than 20 volunteens.

*Please note that there are a limited number of volunteer positions available for our summer program.

**If you are 18 or older and would like to participate in our summer program, please complete an adult application and indicate on the application that you are interested in summer service only.
