Aurora Wound Care

Over 6.5 million Americans suffer from chronic wounds. Chronic wounds are considered serious if they don’t respond to treatment after thirty days of conventional medical care. With our country's aging population and the rise of obesity and chronic diseases such as diabetes, the number of people suffering from hard-to-heal wounds is significant.

The incidence of chronic wounds is highest among diabetics, which often results in amputation if not treated with the latest healing techniques. Chronic wounds can also result from prolonged pressure on the skin, venous and arterial disease and non-healing surgical and radiation damage.

Outpatient Wound Care

Mercy Wound Care - Aurora is an outpatient, hospital-based program that works with a patient’s primary care physician. The complexity of chronic wounds requires intervention by multiple healthcare disciplines to address the many conditions and positively impact healing. We provide treatment for a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Arterial insufficiency (lack of blood flow in arteries) and venous stasis wounds (due to function loss in leg veins)
  • Radiation therapy wounds
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Non-healing surgical or complicated wounds

Mercy Wound Care - Aurora coordinates closely with our clinics in Springfield and Joplin to ensure our patients have access to whatever care they need, including hyperbaric oxygen chambers and other healing therapies. For more information on wound care treatment in Aurora, please call 417-678-7846
