Medicare Coverage Options

What is Medicare?

Medicare is health insurance provided by the federal government. It's available to people on disability and to all Americans 65 or over, regardless of health or income, to cover or lower the costs of staying healthy.

Medicare Coverage Options

When you enroll in Medicare, you can choose from:

  • Original Medicare - This plan includes Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance). You also can add Part D (prescription drug coverage) and Medicare supplement insurance.
  • Medicare Advantage (Part C) – This is extra coverage provided by private insurers which covers or lowers the cost of services not covered by Original Medicare (like vision and dental).

Medicare coverage changes from year to year, and your plan’s benefits might change too. Comparing Medicare plans could result in cost savings and/or expanded benefits for the following year.
