1968
After a decade of community commitment and support, Dexter Memorial Hospital is formally dedicated. U.S. Vice President Hubert Humphrey attends the dedication ceremony, marking an important moment for the new community hospital.
1969
The hospital expands its role in the community, providing a full range of health services to residents of Dexter and Stoddard County.
1982
A new hospital wing opens with additional space for laboratory services, emergency care and rehabilitation, expanding the services available to patients close to home.
1994
The hospital opens its first two rural health clinics in Bernie and Malden, bringing health care services closer to people throughout the surrounding communities.
2013
The hospital joins SoutheastHEALTH and becomes Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County.
2014
Southeast Medical Plaza opens on the hospital campus, expanding access to primary care. The new facility includes 29 exam rooms, physician offices, laboratory and x-ray services, and dedicated waiting areas for adults and children.
2018
A major renovation updates the front of the hospital and adds a new Emergency Department and Behavioral Health Unit. The Emergency Department includes 10 exam rooms, with dedicated spaces for isolation and trauma care. The new 15-bed Behavioral Health Unit includes areas for group therapy and outdoor activities.
2024
Following Mercy's acquisition of SoutheastHEALTH, the hospital becomes Mercy Hospital Stoddard. As part of Mercy's regional health system, the hospital continues its longstanding commitment to serving Dexter, Stoddard County and surrounding communities.
