Chief Physician Executive, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
J. Peter Crites serves as Mercy’s chief physician executive of orthopedics and sports medicine, leading the transformation of musculoskeletal care. Since joining Mercy in 2003, Dr. Crites has served in a variety of leadership roles, including regional service line chair for orthopedics and sports medicine (in Southwest Missouri and Kansas), chair of the musculoskeletal department, section chair of orthopedic surgery, and positions on the Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Board of Managers, Mercy Springfield Communities Board and the Mercy Council on AI.
Education and Credentials
Dr. Crites earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
