Expanded Care for Women in Oklahoma City
The new Love Family Women’s Center will provide a higher level of care for the women of Oklahoma City. Three large caesarean section suites will connect to the hospital on the first floor via the existing hospital surgery suite. This strategic design will allow for quick and safe access to additional services if any medical emergencies arise during delivery.
Postpartum rooms will be located on the third floor of the Women’s Center that connects to the hospital via a skybridge. This will allow moms of babies needing extra care to have direct elevator access to the neonatal intensive care unit on the fifth floor.
The new state-of-the-art facility will also feature Oklahoma’s first hospital-based low-intervention birthing unit. The unit will be run by accredited midwives, who are also registered nurses, in collaboration with obstetricians. This program will offer patients the option of a low-intervention birth with access to a higher level of care under the same roof in case of any unforeseen issues during labor and delivery.
Mercy will serve women of all ages at the Love Family Women’s Center. Women undergoing surgeries during their stay will have special access to a dedicated area promoting rest and recovery. Outpatient therapy services, specifically pelvic floor therapy, will also be offered. A large conference center will host support groups and classes on everything from childbirth to infant care, CPR and more.
Campaign co-chairs Judy Love and Cathy Keating led the way in raising funds for the Love Family Women's Center.
