About Luke George Foley Smith, MD

Care Philosophy One of the earliest influences in my life was my dad. He was an orthopedic surgeon and I learned a lot about patient care from him. But when I was in high school, my mom had a brain tumor and that's what made me want to go into neurosurgery. We meet the patients and their families when they are at their worst moments. And I like interacting with patients in that stage. A lot of physicians don't. But I do because I think it's a very special time and it's the biggest way to leave a mark on somebody at their lowest point. Pediatric neurosurgery is a very special place in medicine. I love interacting with families.

Both the nurse and Dr. Smith were amazing. Recommend them both! Very kind and courteous.

Provider was 45 minutes late to appointment and when he did come into the room was very rushed and could tell had not reviewed my child's history at all. He did not answer some of my questions. Acted like he was very inconvenienced to be there and to be bothered by my son's condition. I did not ask to see him it is where our pcp sent us. I will be getting a second opinion.

All my visits with Mercy have been cordial and provided with professional courtesy. The appointment wait times could be improved however I understand busy schedules. I trust my care here. Thank-you and the entire team.
