About Whitney Kathryn Kaefring, MD

Care Philosophy Lots of things, like my experience in art and working with people, led me to medicine. I've always been interested in the sciences and the “why” of things, like understanding why the human body works as it does. I come from a long line of teachers, so medicine combines my love of people and teaching with my knowledge from medical school. I see all ages, from unborn to end-of-life care. My particular joy is those first years of life, women's care and family planning. Kids are especially fun. Even a brand-new baby has a distinct personality. Seeing that personality emerge, how they interact with siblings and fit into the family dynamic is exciting. Helping new parents learn to care for this baby is very satisfying. One of a family medicine doctor’s most important skills is listening and hearing what's being said. Often we come from different backgrounds, and my words may not be the same as yours, but listening and hearing what’s being said lets me help people.

My doctor was amazing. She was so nice and courteous. She listened to all of my concerns and she addressed them as well. She moved swiftly to schedule my blood work because my blood pressure is sky high and I would recommend her to anyone. She is amazing. I had follow up questions that I sent to her through the My Mercy website and instead of answering on the website, I had a personal phone call with her because she had additional questions to make sure that I was safe being at home. She is amazing.

Scheduling an appointment could be better. When I first attempted to schedule, it would've taken over two months to see my doctor, which is too long when you have a problem. However, an opening came while on the phone to schedule, so I was able to see her within one week.

That was my first experience there and it was awesome, almost better than any place I've ever been. My doctor was awesome, the staff was friendly, so I'm good and I'll be back. Thank you.
