Jacob Kliethermes, Mercy Hospital Lincoln executive director of nursing, and Francie Wagner, St. Anthony’s operating room team leader, were honored among 10 outstanding nurses by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch with the “Nurses: The Heart of Healthcare” award.
The contest began with a call for nominations. With over 300 nominations, many Mercy nurses included, these nominees were paired down to a pool of 65. The 65 finalists were reviewed and nine winners were selected by a panel of three independent judges. The 10th winner was chosen by readers.
“With his canny ability, Jacob encourages others to do bigger, and gives praises for the littlest things,” said Bethany Westlake, Mercy St. Louis executive director of nursing, who nominated him. “He inspires others to be their best every day. Jacob Kliethermes is a true leader and mentor in all that he does.
The final 10 nurses were honored during a luncheon at the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis. Prior to accepting the award, a video of each of the 10 nurses was shown. Read about each winner in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and see their videos.
