ST. LOUIS - A new MRI suite for pediatric patients opened recently in the Mercy Kids Tests and Treatments area at Mercy Children’s Hospital St. Louis. The new suite offers a variety of features to ease anxiety and make kids more comfortable during MRI procedures, including ceiling projection themes, LED light colors in the room and favorite cartoons or movies.
The wide and shorter bore of the new MRI adds more room within the MRI to comfortably accommodate most patients, and allows parents to keep their child company. This new MRI expands capabilities for Mercy with advanced applications for cardiac, neuro and orthopedic imaging needs.
The new MRI was partially funded thanks to money raised during Mercy Health Foundation St. Louis' 2016 Benefit for Mercy Kids Fund-a-Need. The event raised $445,825 to benefit the pediatric MRI suite.
