Patient Care Technician Christina Avis was nominated for the quarterly Tulip Award at Mercy Hospital Jefferson by one of her co-workers for thoughtfulness and generosity.

“Chris always approaches her duties with caring thoughtfulness toward both her co-workers and our patients. Recently we had a patient without any basic resources including food, clean clothing and shelter. Chris bought this patient non-perishable food to take home and provided clean clothing from Catherine’s Closet prior to discharge. Our unit is a better place because of Chris Avis.”

Christina Avis purchased food and collected clothing for a patient in need. Christina Avis purchased food and collected clothing for a patient in need.

Chris received a framed certificate, a tulip pin to wear on her badge and custom, tulip-shaped cookies to share with co-workers in the PACU and recovery room.

Presented by the Professional Development Shared Governance Council, the Tulip Award recognizes techs and assistants as nominated by patients, visitors and co-workers. The council received 75 Tulip nominations for the quarter. Each nominee will receive a certificate acknowledging their nomination.
