Sports Physicals Available at Mercy Ardmore

July 2, 2020

For young adults planning to participate in sports, annual physicals are key to ensuring health and safety of all participants. The sports physical ensures that athletes are able to withstand the physical demands of all kinds of sports.

Typically involving a medical history assessment and a physical exam, a sports physical seeks to identify any potential health issues or risks that could potentially be exacerbated by physical activity.

The preparticipation physical is the most important part of any athletic season to ensure the health and safety of your student athlete, which is our top priority,” said Dr. Derek Landis, of Mercy Clinic Ardmore. “The benefits to kids of participating in sports are numerous, so we want to be sure as many as possible can do so safely.”

With the COVID-19 pandemic preventing Mercy from being able to offer sports physicals in the typical group setting, physicals are being offered by primary care providers at Mercy clinics in the Ardmore community for $25 each. In addition, Commerce Clinic will offer sports physicals two Saturdays this month, July 11 and 18. Appointments will be available between 9 a.m. and noon and can be scheduled by calling 580-223-5311 and selecting option 2.
