ST. LOUIS - Jen Hibdon knows firsthand the pain of losing a baby, having experienced loss two times. So, each year, she holds a toy drive in memory of Charlotte and Lily, who were born angels. She asks friends and family, while doing their shopping, to consider picking up an extra toy or gift card to be donated to children in the hospital.
This year, 6-year-old Asher helped contribute.
“He kept telling me he wanted to do a toy drive,” said his mom Rebekah Kuykendall. “When we learned about Jen’s drive, we knew this was the one to join.”
Kuykendall also experienced an infant loss years ago which made the connection easy.
Asher collected more than 100 toys to add to the others Hibdon collected.
“Our family knows what’s like to be hospitalized over Christmas,” Hibdon added. “This is a way to bring a smile to the faces of children who are in the hospital as well as a way to honor our angels Charlotte and Lily.”
