Mercy South Heart Failure Program Earns Recertification from The Joint Commission

November 22, 2021

The Joint Commission has recertified the heart failure program at Mercy Hospital South for Advanced Certification in Advanced Heart Failure.

The Joint Commission evaluates how well a program meets national standards, follows clinical guidelines and improves the lives of patients. Mercy South’s heart failure program exceeded every standard.

“We care for our patients using evidence-based practices to improve their quality of life,” said Vijay Divakaran, nurse practitioner and heart failure program supervisor. “This continued certification verifies the priority we place on following best practices for our heart failure patients.”

The heart failure program, under the leadership of Vijay Divakaran, NP, and Dr. Charles Carey, medical director, seeks to speed the recovery time for patients and reduce the need for readmission to the hospital. It is an outpatient program provided by Mercy Clinic Hearth Failure Program – 10004 Kennerly. It has been Joint Commission certified since 2017, and also has earned the American Heart Association’s Get with the Guidelines – Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.
