
Mercy Southeast is expanding patient access to its convenient care location in Jackson with the addition of a new advanced nurse practitioner.
Leigh Hampton joined Mercy Convenient Care – Jackson, 2432 E. Main Street, Suite B, bringing a wealth of experience. Hampton has more than 30 years in nursing, with 25 of those years as a family nurse practitioner. Her vast experience includes caring for patients in primary care, urgent care, inpatient palliative care and administration settings. She also has owned a health care business.

“To put it plainly, I’m enjoying helping my patients feel better,” Hampton said. “I’ve worked most of my career in rural communities. I believe Mercy is such a blessing for our region, and I’m excited to be part of the team. Our team at Mercy Convenient Care – Jackson is amazing!”
The walk-in clinic is led by board-certified physician Dr. Bhavani Vaddey and skilled physician assistants to provide quality same-day care for patients of all ages. Patients can be seen for minor illnesses and injuries such as:
- Bladder infection symptoms
- Cough or sore throat
- Ear, eye or sinus pain
- Fever
- Flu symptoms
- Rashes, burns, cuts or bites
- Sprains and strains
While Hampton was born in St. Louis, she grew up in Southeast Missouri in Scott City. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing and Master of Science in nursing with a focus on family nurse practitioner from Southeast Missouri State University. She also earned a Master of Science in health sciences from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
When Hampton isn’t caring for patients, she’s a mom to her teenage son. She enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as traveling and white-water rafting.
