ST. LOUIS — In the skilled hands of Mercy’s compassionate caregivers, the latest tool in its radiology toolbox is getting faster and more detailed results about 27% more often than before.
An advanced AI technology called Aidoc (pronounced A-doc) is driving the transformation of Mercy’s imaging services, all under the careful command of Mercy’s experienced and diligent human caregivers.
Aidoc’s aiOS™ platform supplements other cutting-edge technology and research-based clinical practices to help caregivers improve patient outcomes by prioritizing the most serious findings, improving diagnostic detection, starting treatments faster and leaving no stone unturned when analyzing CT scans, X-rays and more.
“Patients scheduled for most imaging services at any Mercy facility — hospital and outpatient — benefit from advanced AI technology assisting radiologists in prioritizing and analyzing imaging studies,” said Dr. John Mohart, Mercy executive vice president and chief operating officer. “Patients get the same great care they have come to expect from Mercy with a bonus, knowing if there are any suspected abnormalities, even outside of the original imaging study’s purpose, they will be notified.”
Mercy has launched the Aidoc aiOS™ platform across its footprint since a phased rollout began in January 2025. A review of data since then shows:
- 3.6 million cases analyzed for 951,000 patients.
- 382,000 cases flagged by Aidoc aiOS™.
- 40% reduction in turnaround time.
About 27% of cases analyzed were enhanced with the Aidoc program’s help — a serious finding flagged for earlier human review, an improved analysis of primary findings or an additional finding that clinicians were not initially looking for. A review of Mercy’s first-year data showed aiOS™ made about 126,000 additional findings.
