Designed by breast-health professionals and women just like you, the Mercy Breast Center on the campus of Mercy Hospital St. Louis is devoted exclusively to breast care, diagnosis and treatment. Our breast health center is available to all women who need routine screenings or further diagnostic procedures and treatments. We ensure the most thorough assessment at our Breast Center in St. Louis, plus the convenience and peace of mind of coordinated care for diagnosis, treatment and counseling. On-site breast care capabilities and services include:
Our breast radiologists in St. Louis specialize in mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and minimally invasive biopsy techniques. Our oncology nurse navigators help guide you through your entire treatment process. The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms beginning at the age of 40. It's also important to start at around age 19 with self-breast exams on a monthly basis and yearly clinical breast exams by your doctor.
Mercy Breast Center is excited to offer 3D mammography, also called breast tomosynthesis, for all patients, but especially those with dense breast tissue. This treatment uses low-dose x-rays to construct a 3D image of the breast and can detect cancer in early stages before symptoms develop. It's available at this location on the Mercy Hospital St. Louis campus and at the Mercy Breast Center at Clayton-Clarkson.
Mercy also has a mobile mammography van to bring cancer screenings directly to patients throughout the eastern Missouri region.

A 3D mammogram can detect breast cancer at early stages because of all the images available to the radiologist. It also helps reduce the number of false positives for breast cancer, so women don't have to return for additional screening mammograms.
The nurse navigators at our St. Louis breast center are registered nurses with expertise in breast cancer detection and care. They provide guidance, education and support for our breast cancer patients, in addition to:
