Mercy Hospice provides compassionate, end-of-life care to terminally ill patients and their families. In addition to medical care, we offer emotional and spiritual support, and assistance with advance directives.
A patient is eligible for Medicare-sponsored hospice care once he or she is certified by a physician as having a terminal illness and life expectancy of six months or less. Once admitted to hospice, patients no longer receive curative treatment for their disease. Instead, they're provided palliative care with a focus on alleviating pain through symptom management.
Hospice care enables patients to spend their final days with dignity, either at home or in a home-like setting.
Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurers include hospice care in their coverage.
