The Ronald McDonald Family Room, operated by the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States through a partnership with Mercy Hospital Joplin offers an area set aside inside the hospital that replicates a home-like atmosphere for when a parent needs a break from the "hospital environment." Family members going through a difficult time of having a child as a patient at Mercy Hospital Joplin (pediatrics or NICU) will have a quiet place to get away for a few hours without leaving the hospital.
The Family Room, available free of charge for families of children 21 years of age and younger being treated in the hospital, is staffed by volunteers from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. It's on the sixth floor next to the pediatric unit and one floor up from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
What is available in the room?
While there is no charge for visiting the Family Room, donations are always welcome to continue to provider for future families. Volunteers also are needed. For more information, call the Family Room at 417-556-6114 or Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States at 417-624-CARE.
