Mercy Springfield is the only facility in Southwest Missouri to have the CyberKnife, technology that delivers beams of cancer-destroying radiation with “tight to the tumor” accuracy.

Though its name may conjure up images of incisions and surgery, the treatment involves no cutting and is a non invasive alternative to surgery. The CyberKnife can treat cancerous and non-cancerous tumors anywhere in the body, particularly tumors that were previously inoperable and otherwise untreatable.

Your treatment will be quicker and more comfortable, with:

  • No pain
  • No incision
  • No anesthesia
  • No hospitalization
  • Improved quality of life
  • Little or no recovery time
  • No invasive head or body frame
  • Immediate return to daily activities
  • Minimal to no side effects

Depending on the type and location of your tumor, you can expect to undergo between one and five outpatient treatments, each lasting between one and two hours.
