Hospital Volunteer Services in Lebanon

Our goal at Mercy Lebanon is to provide excellent care to our patients, their families and the visitors that we serve. Our volunteers play a critical role in reaching, exceeding, and maintaining that goal. The Mercy Lebanon Auxiliary is a two-time Auxiliary of the Year award winner and has been a vital part of the hospital since 1962.

The Mercy Lebanon Auxiliary provides over 5,000 hours of volunteer services a year to Mercy's hospital in Lebanon, MO. This award-winning auxiliary has numerous volunteer opportunities, let us help you find the one that is just right for you. We feel it is important to place volunteers in areas that truly touch their hearts.

Hospital Volunteer Opportunities

  • Gift shop – volunteers serve as cashier, help stock items, unpack, and price merchandise, provide excellent customer service
  • Information desk – volunteers provide excellent customer service while directing visitors, assisting patients as needed
  • Foodservice – volunteers assist the cafeteria and catering staff in the hospital cafeteria
  • Curry Cancer Center - volunteers assist staff in the infusion center, check on patients, and assist with comfort needs and visit with them. They also help with wiping down chairs between patients.
  • Patient escort – volunteers assist nurses by transporting patients in wheelchairs following procedures and surgeries. Strip beds wipe down and make beds in preparation for the next patient.
  • Departmental support – volunteers are placed in departments to assist with phones, clerical tasks, and special projects. Limited availability and specific requirements.
  • Special projects – assist with auxiliary fundraisers and other special projects of the auxiliary and Mercy Health Foundation.

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers must have a patient, kind and caring demeanor and be able to handle situations that arise in a diplomatic and sensitive manner while upholding the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy in meeting our community’s health needs. 

We request that volunteers commit to a minimum of one four-hour shift per week, and are required to interview, complete health screening, and attend an orientation prior to starting.
