Your service means everything to our patients.
Our goal at Mercy is to provide an excellent patient experience; one that reaches beyond the patient, to their families and visitors alike. With more than 250 volunteers currently serving, every Mercy Volunteer plays a critical role in living our mission to provide compassionate care and exceptional service. Mercy’s Auxiliary has been a vital part of the hospital for over 50 years and we thank you for your desire to give back to our Northwest Arkansas community by volunteering at Mercy.
There are numerous volunteer positions in our facilities for adults, teens and RNs, which include the main hospital and several of our clinics. Volunteers assist by providing support at our information desks, Gift Shops, Patient Escort Services, Surgery Waiting, Clinical Settings, and other various departments.
We feel it is important to place our volunteers in areas of need, and will try to place you in an area that truly touches your heart. However, please keep in mind that volunteers commit to a minimum of one four hour shift per week, and are required to interview and attend orientation before beginning service. Additionally, volunteers are required to attend yearly training and to maintain health requirements.
Please contact Volunteer Services at 479-338-2188 with any questions.
Thank you for your interest in serving at Mercy. We look forward to meeting you!
Mercy is honored to offer teens an opportunity to experience six weeks of summer service in our hospital and clinics. Applicants must be 15 – 18 years old to apply.
Applications will be accepted from March 15 – May 5. After all applications are reviewed, a letter will be mailed out to applicants by May 12 regarding acceptance to the program. Please note that there are a limited number of volunteer positions available for our summer program.
Update: as of May 2019 all summer teen volunteer positions have been filled. Please check back again next year.
For your personal planning, Volunteens will be required to attend one three-hour orientation, which will be offered on June 12 or June 15. All new Volunteens must attend one of these two offered sessions in order to participate in the program.
In order to apply, each student must commit to volunteer four hours per week from June 12 to July 21. Please do not apply if you will be absent or unable to serve for more than one week during that period.
Volunteens will be required to provide current proof of TB screening that can be obtained through their personal care provider. If they choose, they can attend our free TB skin test clinic and they will be required to return in 48-72 hours to have the test read.
Returning teens will be accepted into our summer program, but must send in a new application with parent/guardian signature. (reference letters are not required for returning Volunteens)
*If you are 18 or older and would like to participate in our summer program, please complete an adult application, which is available at mercy.net/donate. Please indicate on the application that you are interested in summer service only.
If you have any questions regarding the Volunteen program, please contact Volunteer Services at 479-338-2188 or email Holli.Oliver@mercy.net.
Volunteer Nurses at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas help deliver compassionate and courteous care to patients throughout the hospital. Volunteer Nurses serve in a wide variety of areas including:
Volunteer Nurses at Mercy Northwest Arkansas take on many different roles in caring for patients. Regardless of specific duties, Volunteer Nurses are given the freedom to devote extended amounts of time to one patient, if needed. This flexibility allows Volunteer Nurses to deliver one-on-one direct patient care — the reason many individuals originally joined the nursing profession.
The volunteer nurse must have an active license from the state of Arkansas Boards of Nursing. If their license is in an inactive state, we can help with the reactivation process.
Each Volunteer Nurse attends a two-day orientation and competency class. The class serves as a refresher and is offered at not cost to the Volunteer Nurse. For more information call: 479-338-2188
