Types of Laboratory Tests

Mercy Lab provides complete diagnostic labs and blood testing services – whether it’s routine lab work, specimen processing, phlebotomy services or consultation. Some of the most common types of lab tests we perform include the following.


A urinalysis is a urine sample that is used to diagnose conditions such as urinary tract infections, diabetes, pregnancy among others.

Lipid panel

A lipid panel is a blood test measures lipids – fats and fatty substances used as a source of energy by your body. Lipids include cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL).

Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT)

An APTT test calculates how long it takes blood to clot, checks for bleeding problems, and tests, whether medicine to prevent blood clots, is working.

Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP)

A BMP is a blood test that checks your sugar (glucose) levels, electrolyte and fluid balance as well as kidney function.

Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)

A CMP is a blood test that measures your sugar (glucose) level, electrolyte and fluid balance, kidney function and liver function.
