- What to Expect at Your Assessment
We look forward to talking to you about your concerns and helping you find a way to return to the activities you love. We want you to know what to expect. So here’s a basic outline of what will happen at your sports pain assessment.
- After you check in at the front desk, you’ll be introduced to your Certified Athletic Trainer (AT) and taken to an exam room.
- Your AT will listen to your health history and the pain you’re worried about now.
- They’ll perform a basic exam to diagnose the condition and start to develop a plan of action.
- Your AT will answer all of your questions and give you next steps to put you on the path to recovery.
Next steps could include:
- Exercises or stretches to do at home
- A suggestion to see a physical therapist for additional treatment
- If more rigorous diagnostic tests or treatment are needed, your AT may refer you to a sports medicine physician
- Other recommendations may be made based on your specific needs
Please note imaging tests such as x-rays or lab work require a physician order, and are not part of this assessment.
