And just like that…I’ve met all the requirements and had a final conversation with my surgeon, Dr. Edwards. I can tell he is excited for me and is extremely committed to my success in the long-term. My surgery is a month away and in just a couple of weeks, I will begin preparing by following a two-week liquid diet, which, thankfully, dodged a major holiday by only two days.
While I am ready to get this show on the road, I wasn’t excited about the possibility of sipping my dinner through a straw while my friends and family celebrated. Things will be different at holidays going forward, I’m sure, but that day isn’t here yet.
During my final surgery consultation, I received my very own Dietary Restriction Card, which will help me order things like kid’s meals and lunch items at dinner. I can’t wait to take this card out for a test drive (do I get the toy with kid’s meal?).
I also received my super glamorous compression socks, and some weird soap to use the night before…these are the final preparations—I can’t believe I am HERE.
