New Doctor for Mercy Bolivar

October 20, 2022

Growing up, Dr. Chris Newland knew he wanted to help others and started down a path that has led him to Bolivar.

“I’ve always felt I was called to service,” he said. “It just took me a while to figure out the best way to do that. I started by serving in the Marine Corps, then ran a nutrition and weight management business. I knew I could do more. Medicine was an opportunity to serve others on a much larger scale and gave me the opportunity for lifelong learning, which is important to me.”

Mercy doctor's coat Dr. Christopher Newland has joined Mercy Clinic Bolivar Multispecialty as a primary care physician.

Dr. Newland says appointments with him will be about more than physical health. “I believe good health also addresses the mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of each patient. I listen carefully to everyone and work with them to find a solution to whatever aspect of health they need to improve.”

Dr. Newland was raised in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. After a residency in Sterling, Colorado, he knew he wanted to serve in a rural area.

“My family moved to Kansas City after I graduated high school,” he said. “I wanted a small town that was closer to them, and Bolivar was perfect.”

When you don’t see him in the office, you’ll likely find him enjoying the Ozarks outdoors. “I love hiking, traveling and exploring,” he said. “I also enjoy tai chi, meditation and live music.”
