For the second time in 2025, Mercy Hospital Jefferson is being recognized as one of the best hospitals in the country for caring for mothers and babies before, during and after delivery. Newsweek and data firm Statista named Mercy Jefferson among America’s Best Maternity Hospitals.
Mercy Jefferson is one of 444 hospitals named to the list, which also includes Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas and Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City. In December, Mercy Jefferson was one of 414 hospitals named to the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list.

“Our goal is to provide the best possible care for mothers and babies here in Jefferson County so families can count on high quality care in the convenience of their community,” said Dr. Jacob Peyton, medical director of Mercy Birthplace – Jefferson and chief of Mercy Hospital Jefferson medical staff. “It takes our entire team to provide the safe, quality care needed to earn this recognition.”
Newsweek’s ratings are based on three factors: hospital quality metrics, including data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the American Hospital Association and The Joint Commission; patient survey results; and a national survey of medical professionals.
