Two community leaders are the newest members of the Mercy Health Foundation Southeast Board of Directors. Amanda Baert and Samantha Rhodes bring their charitable, business and leadership experience to the foundation.
The board of directors helps ensure Mercy's traditions, values and mission are being met while overseeing the financial health of the foundation and making sure resources are used effectively to help achieve its goals. Board members also act as representatives of the foundation by helping build relationships in the community, raising awareness and enhancing the foundation’s reputation.
Baert brings more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry and is currently a wealth management banking specialist with Merrill Lynch, a position she’s held since 2022. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Baert held a variety of leadership and client-focused roles at U.S. Bank.
“I’m honored to be selected for the Mercy Health Foundation Southeast Board, and I’m committed to supporting its continued service and growth across Southeast Missouri,” Baert said. “I’ve always had a passion for community service, and serving on this board will allow me to help give back to the community in a new way.”
Baert has actively been involved with the foundation since 2017 as a member of the Mercy Health Foundation Southeast Ambassadors, which advances outreach and advocacy of Mercy’s mission to provide compassionate, high-quality health care. She most recently served as president of the group.
Baert and her husband, Tyler, live in Chaffee with their two daughters. She enjoys many outdoor hobbies including gardening, trips to the lake with her family and horseback riding.
Rhodes is involved in various philanthropic initiatives and enjoys sharing her passion for wine as a sales associate with Primo Vino and Cask. She and her husband, Scott, are active in various local initiatives and own multiple business ventures which contribute to the area’s growth.
Growing up in the medical community as the daughter of Dr. Mike Brown, Rhodes is thrilled to now serve on the foundation board.
“I’m excited to share the knowledge and understanding my father instilled in me to help the Mercy Foundation support and improve the hospital’s ability to serve Southeast Missouri patients,” Rhodes said.
Rhodes and her husband live in Cape Girardeau with their son and daughter. She enjoys being with her family and friends in her free time.
Baert and Rhodes will serve terms through June 2031.
