“For women who know they’re due for a mammogram but haven’t had the chance to schedule one, these events offer a convenient solution – no appointment necessary,” said Wendy Lawson, Mercy’s executive of operations for oncology and imaging services. “October is a time when women’s health is in the spotlight, and we’re proud to make it easier for women across Oklahoma City to prioritize their well-being in a relaxed and welcoming environment.”

Mammograms and Macarons: Thursdays in October

Walk-in mammograms are available from 5-7 p.m. every Thursday in October for Macarons and Mammograms. The event is at the Mercy Breast Center – Coletta, located at 4401 McAuley Blvd. Suite 1110 on the Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City campus.

Mercy caregivers will check you in and get you set up for a mammogram. And while you wait or after the scan – or both – feel free to munch on the crunchy French cookies.

Pink & Pampered: Sunday, Oct. 19

Women of all ages are invited for Pink & Pampered, a special event to celebrate and support women’s health in a fun, relaxing and informative way. No appointment or mammogram is required to attend.

Learn about the importance of breast cancer screening in a welcoming environment with education, pampering and connection. Information will be available about genetic testing options, with massages, mocktails, music and macarons allowing attendees to make time for themselves.

The event is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, also at the Mercy Breast Center – Coletta on the Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City campus.

Why get a mammogram?

Mammograms only take a few minutes, but getting one regularly can save your life. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends annual mammograms for women starting at age 40 and continuing until at least age 74.

Mammograms can find breast cancer when it’s too small for you or your doctor to feel. Early detection is key to surviving breast cancer.

Women with a family history of breast cancer should begin annual screenings before age 40.

Stop by one of the Mercy events in October for a walk-in mammogram or visit mercy.net to schedule an appointment.
