An annual tradition featuring musical and vocal talent, Sounds of the Season will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, at River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St., Cape Girardeau. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. with casual entertainment.
Some of the performers this year include:
- Dr. Andrew Moore
- Encore Dance Academy
- SEMO Horn Choir
- Southeast Missouri Regional Community Choir
- Zac Glenn
Celebrity emcees are KFVS12 television personalities Crystal Britt and Jeffrey Bullard.
For 30 years, this fun, entertaining event has benefited cancer patients in need through the Mercy Health Foundation Southeast Cancer Care Fund. The first Sounds of the Season concert was hosted in 1994 by Jerry Ford, a prominent local musician, businessman and former politician. After his brother was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, Ford established the concert tradition to honor both his brother and others affected by cancer.
Proceeds also will benefit the Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance Senior Showcase at SEMO, which allows fine arts students to attend master classes, visit graduate schools and experience New York City. The fund also provides touring opportunities for jazz ensembles.
Tickets are $13 at the door or $15.75 online at mercyhealthfoundation.net/soundsoftheseason. Everyone who donates $150 or more will receive free tickets and recognition in the concert program. A variety of sponsorship levels are available. Sponsorships must be received by Friday, Nov. 21, to receive recognition in the concert program.
Sounds of the Season will be broadcast on KFVS stations at these scheduled times:
- KFVS12: Dec. 25 at 5 a.m., 6 a.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
- KFVS-TOO: Dec. 25 at 7 a.m., noon and 5:30 p.m.
