Mercy Earns ‘Most Wired’ Designation For 22nd Consecutive Year

November 21, 2025

For the 22nd year in a row, Mercy was named one of the nation’s most technologically advanced health care organizations, earning prestigious Level 9 honors in the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Digital Health Most Wired survey.

Mercy ranked above peers in critical categories like cybersecurity, patient engagement, and analytics and data management. The annual survey, often referred to as a “digital maturity report card,” assesses the adoption, integration and impact of technologies in health care organizations at all stages of development, from early-stage adopters to industry leaders.

“Mercy’s commitment to digital excellence makes a profound impact on the health and experience of the patients we serve,” said Scott Richert, Mercy chief information officer. “Having won the ‘Most Wired’ honor every year for more than two decades shows that Mercy is a leader in innovation and adoption of new technologies in health care, and we’ve seen how many of these new technologies improve care for our patients and help our caregivers spend more time at the bedside.”

Mercy has long been a trailblazer in health care technology and was among the first to adopt an integrated electronic health record more than a decade ago. Among the current accomplishments that distinguished Mercy was the expansive utilization of telehealth and virtual care models and bringing advanced specialty care to places that otherwise wouldn’t have access to it.

Mercy’s national leadership in the adoption of technology is also reflected in its collaborative work with Microsoft, Mayo Clinic and other international health organizations to analyze de-identified patient data to search for trends and promote a care model based on not just treatment but wellness and prevention.

As health care organizations continue to face complex challenges in rising cybersecurity threats, evolving care models, workforce shortages and budget constraints, the need to accelerate digital transformation has never been more urgent. Over the next several decades, emerging technologies like the ones Mercy has already begun implementing will revolutionize care delivery in fundamental ways. Innovations powered by interoperable data, artificial intelligence and secure digital infrastructure are poised to redefine the digital health landscape. Navigating this evolution will require sustained commitment and a clear, strategic road map.

As success in digital transformation increasingly influences the quality and accessibility of care, the CHIME Most Wired recognition program reflects the progress of leading health care providers as they reshape the future of care. This achievement extends beyond information technology to every area of the enterprise, symbolizing a collective commitment to advancing health and care through strategic digital initiatives.
