ST. LOUIS – Mercy nurses know Stephanie Clements has their back, and so does Becker’s. The health care publication named her among the most influential nursing leaders in the country on its 2025 list of Hospital and Health System Chief Nursing Officers to Know.
This list recognizes outstanding CNOs who are shaping the future of patient care by leading nursing strategy; taking on critical challenges such as staffing shortages and nursing budgets; creating meaningful professional development pathways for the next generation of nurses; and leading innovative initiatives that elevate care quality and strengthen clinical excellence across their organizations.
Clements stepped into her role as Mercy’s top nurse last year, bringing decades of experience in health systems across Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma. Before becoming chief nurse executive, she served as vice president at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City and as community chief nursing officer, where she oversaw more than 2,400 nurses across Oklahoma. Today, she leads more than 15,000 nurses across Mercy hospitals and clinics in five states.
