Mercy’s ACO Model Stands Out on the National Stage

February 4, 2026

ST. LOUIS - Mercy has been recognized again by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of its 50 ACOs to Know, a list highlighting organizations that are shaping the future of coordinated, value-based care. The annual list spotlights Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) that are improving care quality, strengthening care coordination and using data to reduce unnecessary spending.

Mercy’s ACO ranks among the top five in the country for the number of Medicare patients served and has saved taxpayers $103 million in the most recently reported year. It’s part of more than $463 million saved over the past seven years. Mercy also ranks third in quality among similarly sized ACOs and highest in the communities it serves, based on more than 30 federal quality measures that assess safety, coordination, preventive screenings and patient experience.

Leaders across Mercy say this recognition reflects a long‑standing commitment to strong primary care and closely connected care teams — an approach now supporting more than 3 million patients each year. Mercy’s early investment in the ACO model has continued to pay off, helping patients stay healthier while lowering overall costs for taxpayers.
