Mercy Health Foundation Southeast is inviting the community to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary by participating in this year’s Independence Day 5K benefiting the Mercy Children’s Wellness Fund.
In honor of the date, the annual race will begin at 7:04 a.m., Saturday, July 4, at Mercy Fitness Center – HealthPoint Jackson, 410 W. Main St., Jackson. The race has been a tradition in the Jackson community for more than 25 years, and Mercy is aiming for more than 600 participants in this year’s events, which include:
- 5K Run: Runners are allowed to walk.
- 5K Walk: Walkers must walk the entire course.
- Firecracker 1-Mile: Walk or run just for fun (begins at 7:10 a.m.).
- Virtual Run/Walk: Register to run/walk wherever you choose.
All race proceeds benefit the Mercy Children’s Wellness Fund, which aims to develop the well-being and self-sufficiency of low-income, first-time parents and focuses on improved child health and pregnancy outcomes. To support parents, childcare will be available to participants on race day.
