Mercy Hospital Springfield is celebrating national recognition this week with the U.S. News & World Report release of its 2026 Best Regional Hospitals list. It is the only hospital in Springfield to earn a spot on the 2026 list and one of five Mercy hospitals to earn recognition in Missouri and Arkansas.

U.S. News assembles the annual list, which highlights top-performing regional hospitals that offer full-service care across a wide range of medical specialties. According to U.S. News, “to earn this designation, a hospital must meet rigorous quality standards including [earning] a ‘High Performing’ rating in at least eight procedures and medical conditions.”

Mercy Hospital Springfield has been named to the U.S. News list of Best Regional Hospitals for the second year in a row.

U.S. News ranks Mercy Hospital Springfield as a “high performance” facility in several specialties, including back surgery, diabetes care, heart attack, knee replacements, leukemia, lung cancer surgery and stroke.

When our teams succeed, patient outcomes are positive and compassionate care is being delivered. Our community knows they can trust us to deliver award-winning medical care.”

Mercy Hospital St. Louis, Mercy Hospital South, Mercy Hospital Jefferson and Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas also made the 2026 list of Best Regional Hospitals.

Mercy Hospital Springfield was also recently recognized by Leapfrog with a Full Transparency Badge for its commitment to publicly reporting patient safety and quality information. This summer, the hospital also earned an American Heart Association Get With the Guidelines achievement award for delivering evidence-based stroke and cardiovascular care.
