ST. LOUIS – The beginning of flu season is just around the corner and now’s the time to get your annual flu and COVID shots. Each year, tens of thousands of Americans are hospitalized and die from flu and COVID infections. The best way to protect yourself is to get vaccinated.
Mercy is making it easy to get these important vaccines with no appointment needed at all area Mercy Pharmacy locations, both on hospital campuses and in 25 area Dierbergs stores.
Flu vaccines are available to anyone 7 years and up, high-risk flu vaccines for those ages 65 and up, and COVID vaccines for ages 12 and up. Please bring an ID and insurance card.

Flu season typically runs from October through May with different strains of the virus developing each year. It takes two weeks for antibodies to develop so it’s important to get vaccinated in September or October.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the 2026-2027 flu vaccines will be trivalent vaccines designed to protect against three different flu viruses, two flu A and a flu B/Victora virus.
“We know finding time to get annual vaccines can be challenging, that’s why we want to make it easy by providing these walk-in options,” said Wade Weibrecht, PharmD, director of Mercy retail pharmacies. “Our Mercy Pharmacy team is trained to make the experience comfortable for our patients.”
