Mercy Sports Medicine Names Athletes of the Month (2026-2027 school year)

October 14, 2026

ST. LOUIS - Athletic trainers with Mercy Sports Medicine are embedded inside many St. Louis metro area high schools. They build relationships with student athletes and get to know them throughout the year. As a way of highlighting outstanding students from these schools, a new Mercy Sports Medicine Athlete of the Month will be recognized each month. Athletes are nominated by coaches and selected by a committee.

Here are the Mercy Sports Medicine Athletes of the Month for the 2026-2027 school year.

September 2026

Nicole Farmer is a senior at Lafayette High School, playing sports all four years including field hockey for three. She focuses on academics with a strong GPA and serves as support to athletes across various sports. She helps in the athletic training room, observes as injured players are treated, offers assistance when needed and even donated snacks for the training room over the years.

Nicky Lindell is a senior soccer player at Parkway West High School. He has been called the "heart and soul" of the varsity boys soccer team, leading by example as the varsity team captain. He has a strong work ethic, cheers on his teammates when they do well and picks them up when they need encouragement. He serves as the team's inspiration, moral compass and fearless leader. Off the field, he volunteers at the school's youth soccer camp, at SPENSA (an organization that brings soccer to special needs kids) and the school's annual 3v3 soccer tournament, and still holds a strong 3.5 GPA. His nomination said, "Ultimately, he is an incredible young man and the type of person that every coach wishes they had on their team."
