The Endoscopy Center at our South County St. Louis Hospital recently underwent a significant renovation and upgrade.
New state-of-the-art advanced endoscopy suite, which includes Omega Medical Imaging equipment that uses artificial intelligence software to reduce radiation exposure to the patient and staff by more than 60% for the safety of both our patients and our co-workers. The suite allows the technology of endoscopy, fluoroscopy and endoscopic ultrasound at the same time to perform a variety of interventional and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. These procedures allow us to take care of critically sick patients and patients for whom surgery is not a good option, allowing for greater patient comfort and shorter hospital stays.
Advanced services already provided by Dr. Samer Al-Kaade, medical director of the endoscopy lab, including ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic mucosal resection and full thickness resection.
New equipment, including all new endoscopes, an upgraded ERCP scope for procedures to diagnose and treat problems with the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and pancreas; and new manometry equipment for measuring the function and motility (motion) of a patient’s esophagus.
