When health is a matter of the heart, trust the skill and compassion of Mercy’s experienced team of cardiologists and heart surgeons. They offer the very latest in diagnostics and treatment options, and they now offer more convenience thanks to the $5.5 million expansion of the Mercy Heart and Vascular Center in Northwest, Ark. It’s one central location within the hospital where you can go for all your outpatient heart care needs. Mercy Heart and Vascular Center in Northwest Arkansas features:

  • An 11-bed  procedure unit dedicated to cardiac patients
  • Four cardiac catheterization labs
  • Arkansas’ first robotic C-arm to help cardiologists get better heart images even faster and perform  minimally invasive procedures
  • Hybrid catheterization lab and operating room
  • A cardiac imaging suite, a one-stop shop for patients needing cardiac tests that includes nuclear medicine cameras, five echocardiogram machines, two nuclear stress rooms and one echo stress room
  • Easy access from the Mercy Heart and Vascular clinic offices
  • Special parking for cardiac patients close to the Heart and Vascular Center

Mercy's expansion of its cardiology services includes open heart surgery, angioplasty, the first TAVR program, leadless pacemaker for qualified patients, Watchman, the only FDA-approved device to treat atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve problem, and other state-of-the-art diagnostic testing in Northwest Arkansas.

Mercy also performs diagnostic catheterization procedures and non-invasive nuclear medicine and echocardiogram heart studies. In addition, our vascular care services include a cardiac rehabilitation program and a cardiac support group.

Coronary Artery Disease Detection

Through investment in technology, Mercy Northwest Arkansas can detect coronary artery disease through non-invasive testing. The process starts with a CT scan of the heart including the option for a one beat, motion-free cardiac scan. Next, using artificial intelligence and computer assisted design, a 3D, digital model of the heart is developed.

The completed analysis is a color-coded, digital 3D-model of the heart and arteries, reflecting the impact that blockages have on blood flow. The entire process for receiving this testing is conducted non-invasively.

  • Certified as a SHAPE (Society of Heart Attack Prevention and Eradication) Center of Excellence. This program is an effort to reduce heart attacks and sudden cardiac death in Northwest Arkansas centered on coronary calcium scoring.
  • Accredited by the Intersocietal Commission of Vascular Laboratories. Physicians and staff are trained in diagnostic vascular ultrasound and adhere to strict guidelines to ensure the highest quality diagnostic testing for patients.
