General Hospital Visiting Hours

Our open visiting policy allows visitors 24/7 access, but please be mindful of our patients who need rest.

Maternity Visiting Hours

The patient's primary support person may visit anytime. During labor, additional visitors are limited dependent on the clinical situation. Other family members or friends are asked to stay in the family waiting area. All children, including siblings, must be accompanied by an adult.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Visiting Hours

Only two visitors will be allowed to see a patient at any given time. ICU staff may further limit visitors at their discretion.

Visitors bring emotional support and enhanced recovery to our patients. To provide a restful and safe environment, we ask that all visitors comply with the following guidelines:

• Be considerate of other patients by keeping noise to a minimum.
• Only two visitors are allowed in the patient’s room at one time.
• Children must have adult supervision at all times while visiting. Children may be restricted from certain areas in the hospital to protect vulnerable patients from infection.
• Please refrain from visiting if you have a cold, sore throat or any contagious disease.
• Please do not bring food or beverages to a patient unless approved by the doctor or nurse.
• Patient restrooms are restricted to patient use only. Visitors should use public restrooms throughout the hospital.
• Observe “No Visiting” and precaution signs before entering a room.
• Smoking or vaping is not allowed on our hospital campus.
• Please leave the room during tests or treatments, if asked.
• Visitors are asked to use civil language and respectful conduct with staff and caregivers.
• Feel free to use the lounges and seating areas available on most patient floors and in the main lobby.

If a patient is facing an end-of-life prognosis, the patient’s physician may make exceptions so that the emotional needs of the patient and family are met.

With one simple act, you can help Mercy keep our patients safer: Wash or sanitize your hands on the way in and out. Patients in our hospitals and clinics are vulnerable to infections. Cleaning your hands is the best way to help prevent the spread of germs.

Clean in.

Before entering a Mercy hospital, patient room or exam room, wash or sanitize your hands. Hand-sanitizer stations and public restrooms are available throughout our hospitals and clinics.

Clean out.

Always wash or sanitize your hands after touching any surface in a hospital or exam room, before eating and after using the restroom.

Patient safety is in our clean hands.

Mercy has a hand-hygiene monitoring system with voice reminders for our caregivers. When you hear these reminders, join us in cleaning your hands. Together, we can give patients the safest possible care.

Springfield Hospital Parking

Free parking is available near all Mercy Hospital Springfield entrances and surrounding medical buildings. Remember to lock your car and keep valuables in the trunk.

Hospital Valet Parking

Free valet parking is offered at the West Entrance from 4:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Note: Valet services are closed on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Mercy Hospital Springfield Lodging

Several hotels are located near the hospital campus. Some offer Mercy patients and families discounted rates. At hotel check-in, mention that you’re a family member of a Mercy patient.

Springfield Hospital Cafeteria

Our cafeteria is located on the first floor. You’ll find a large selection of hot and cold foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hospital cafeteria hours:

• Monday - Friday for breakfast from 6:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
• Monday - Friday for lunch from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
• Subway menu items are available daily from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Springfield Hospital Cafe

Our cafe is located on the first floor and offers grab-and-go food and snacks along with hand-crafted espresso drinks. Cafe hours are:

• Monday - Friday:  6 :00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• Saturday:  6:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Vending Machines

Vending machines offering beverages and snacks are available in the cafeteria and lobby area of each floor, near the elevators.

Mercy Hospital Gift Shop in Springfield MO

Located in the main lobby, Mercy Gift Shop offers clothing, slippers/footwear, jewelry & accessories, purses and bags, candy/snacks, cards, lotion/body care, candles, puzzles, personal care items, home & garden décor, inspirational items, holiday items, plush toys & games, kitchen items, and novelties. Our gift shop is operated by the volunteers of Mercy Hospital Springfield Auxiliary. All proceeds from gift shop sales are donated back to the hospital. Come see our assortment of unique gifts!

Mercy Gift Shop Springfield Hours

Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Mercy Hospital Springfield has a campus-wide no-smoking policy in accordance with Joint Commission accreditation standards.

For the Deaf and Hearing Impaired

An interpreter, assistive listening devices, telecommunications devices (TDD) and closed-caption televisions are available at no cost for hearing-impaired patients. Ask your nurse for assistance.

Free Medical Interpreters Available

Language interpreters and translation services are available to patients at no cost when needed for effective communication of medical treatment, obtaining consent for procedures or tests and providing information relating to health care recommendations, education, instructions, medications, diagnoses and prognoses.

Mercy is a faith-based ministry committed to meeting the spiritual needs of our patients. Spiritual care is available to all patients and their families, regardless of religious preference or beliefs. 

You can benefit from our spiritual care services by calling 417-820-2735 and asking to speak with a chaplain. As a ministry of the Catholic Church, Mercy makes the sacraments available to those who wish to receive them. Protestant communion and emergency baptism are available by request.

Springfield Hospital Chapel

St. John’s Chapel is located on the 6th floor and is always open. Patients and visitors are welcome to attend Catholic Mass and the interdenominational service:

Monday - Thursday:  12:00 p.m.
Holy Days:  8:00 a.m.
Daily Distribution of Holy Communion

Mass can be viewed on hospital channel 5. Bibles are available in patients' rooms. Other Sacred Scriptures are available on request.

Memorial Services

Pastoral Services offers a memorial service the second Thursday in March, June, September and December at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel for families and friends of patients or employees whose loved ones died during the previous months.
