Springfield Hospital Volunteer Services

Your service means everything to our patients! Our goal at Mercy is to provide an excellent patient experience; one that reaches beyond the patient, to their families and visitors alike. With more than 700 volunteers currently serving, they each play a critical role in reaching, exceeding and maintaining that goal.  Mercy’s Auxiliary has been a vital part of the hospital since 1953, so we thank you for your interest and desire to be a part of that; giving back to the community by serving thru Mercy.

We feel it is important to place our volunteers in areas where they are needed and will try to place you in an area that truly touches your heart. However, please keep in mind that volunteers commit to a minimum of one four-hour shift per week, and are required to interview and attend orientation before starting. If you are interested, please fill out the volunteer application below. Thank you for your interest in serving at Mercy. We look forward to meeting you!

Hospital Volunteer Opportunities

There are numerous volunteer positions in our facilities, which include the main hospital, our orthopedic hospital in Springfield, as well as our Springfield rehabilitation hospital. Volunteers assist by providing support at our information desks, gift shops, patient escort services, surgery waiting, clinical settings, and other various departments.

NICU Volunteering

We have a limited number of opportunities in the NICU. It is a requirement for volunteers who want to provide ‘baby cuddling’ to serve in another area for at least 40 hours before you can be interviewed and considered by NICU staff members.
